Though perhaps not as instantly recognizable as Alexander McQueen or Viktor and Rolf, chances are really good that you've seen Eiko Ishioka's designs. The costume designer, who passed away January of this year, has had a prolific and fascinating career, and Eric Wilson pays tribute to her in today's New York Times. Ishioka's final work would be for the upcoming film Mirror Mirror, and Wilson is correct to point out that many movie goers will be as wowed by the clothes as they will film itself.
