We queued up to chat with Lake Bell last night at Target's GO International celebration because we thought she was HILAR in No Strings Attached. (A seriously good movie, despite what the guy on TaxiTV says.) We also wanted to grill the actress on her personal style, because unlike many of her peers, she actually has some.
Haven't you heard? Target is re-releasing a slew of their most-loved Go International dresses in honor of the project's 5th Anniversary. (Click here to see all 34 looks.) To celebrate, they're hosting a shopping party tonight at the Ace Hotel with frequent collaborator Opening Ceremony. (We sooooo wish that the store's owners/in-house designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim would team up with Target to do their own diffusion line. But that's another story....) Anyways, here's the video Leon put together to celebrate the collection. It features the step dance team Bad News from the Bronx, wearing looks by Proenza, Tracey Feith, Luella, and more. And it's pretty adorable.
Over the past five years, Target's GO International designer collections have really enhanced our wardrobes without depleting our bank accounts. But the most coveted pieces from each collection have always flown off the shelves, and there are some dresses that we just couldn't manage to get our hands on. Luckily, Target has introduced the GO International Designer Collective, where they've given us a second chance to pick up dresses from past collaborations with Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Rodarte, Thakoon, and many more. A few months ago we predicted which designs we hoped would make the cut. Sadly only a couple of our selections (the Rodarte slip dress and the Thakoon tie-waist frock) are among the collection of 34 reissued dresses (all priced under $50!), but there are still plenty of cute pieces to go around including Jovovich-Hawk mini dresses and floral print shifts from Tucker and Tracy Feith. So here's your second chance--the collection will be available on March 13th at Target.com and in store until April 10th or, as we've learned the hard way, until supplies last. Click through to browse the complete re-released collection.
We thought it was curious that, among all the celebrities who attended Target's spectacular Spectacular at the Standard a few weeks ago, designer Prabal Gurung was on the red carpet too. Since then, we've heard from two sources that Gurung is Target's newest GO designer. We hope it's true. Gurung's use of bold colors, sharp tailoring, and elegant cocktail dresses would translate well for mass. Gurung is a rising star (his first runway show was just last season), with just the right buzz to land a Target collaboration. He's adored by editors and celebrities alike (including Mrs. O and Oprah), wins fashion awards, and hasn't shied away fashion reality TV either (remember his City cameo?). Our sources won't dish on when this collaboration might happen, but we're hoping it's soon--a holiday present maybe? Fingers crossed.
