We hope your bags and backs are ready because it's nearly that time of year again! That's right--the September issues are upon us! As Candy Pratt's
The Australian fashion industry is abuzz with the shock announcement that Edwina McCann, who has been editor of Harper’s Bazaar Australia for the past three years, will replace Kirstie Clements at arch rival publication Vogue Australia. Clements spent 10 years as editor-in-chief of Vogue, which is published by the Rupert Murdoch owned News Magazines. (Harper’s is part of competitor ACP Magazines.) The announcement comes with no shortage of speculation.
After Kanye West's debut fashion collection was pretty much universally panned last season, we sort of got the feeling we'd never see it again. Howe
It's not even March yet and here in New York we're already getting two kinds of April showers: The kind that is water falling out of the sky, as wel
Kristen Cavallari Shot A Wedding Spread And Then Ended Her Engagement: The Hills star shot this Life&Style wedding spread and then broke off her engagement with Jay Cutler two days after the photos were released (presumably not because of said photoshoot). The pictures are gorgeous but that's probably no consolation; bet she's having a really not fun Sex and the City movie moment right about now. {MTV Style} Karlie Kloss Covers September Harper's Bazaar Australia: Excuse my Tyra phrasing, but this is FIERCE. Victor Demarchelier captured Kloss' signature stare head-on. I feel she's boring into my soul. I like it. {Fashion Gone Rogue} The McQueen Exhibit Is Open Until Midnight On It's Last Two Nights: On Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty will be open to the public until midnight, the latest the museum has ever kept an exhibit open. A spokesperson remarked, "These midnight hours will mark a fitting conclusion to this powerful exploration of McQueen's work." We couldn't agree more. {Met Museum}
Yes, Kanye West is really definitely designing a collection and has been unyielding in getting outside support and advice from anyone he can. Last week, Louise Wilson, the director of the MA in fashion course at Central Saint Martins, confirmed to the Guardian that Louise Goldin was collaborating with Kanye West on his once-rumored, now-factual clothing line. Today, Harper's Bazaar Australia has further confirmed that it's happening and revealed that their fashion editor Christine Centenera (who is also a freelance stylist) has been traveling to Paris twice monthly and consulting West on its' creation since the two met at Paris Fashion Week in March.
From Zoe to The Row: Every time one of those weird Bing "commercials" came on during the Rachel Zoe Project, we couldn't help but think, "Why is Microsoft trying so hard to make Bing happen and why are they targeting Rachel Zoe's audience?" Now, they're tapping into another fashion brand--The Row. In an exclusive partnership, Bing.com will air coverage of their SS2011 collection in two "short films." A teaser is up now. According to a press release, this collab makes sense because, "Bing and The Row share a commitment to visual beauty which combine for a unique partnership." Okay, Bing. {Bing.com} Tom Florio to IMG: Tom Florio left his publishing position at Condé Nast over three months ago and we've all been wondering what his next job would be. Turns out, IMG created one for him. The company announced today Florio's appointment as senior advisor for fashion to the office of the chairman, effective October 1. {Daily Front Row} Awkward Next Top Model: On Monday night's live finale of Australia's Next Top Model, host Sarah Murdoch announced the wrong winner, only to find out through her earpiece and correct herself after Kelsey made her heartfelt acceptance speech. Awkward. However, all is not lost for Kelsey. Because of the mistake and closeness of the votes, both her and Amanda (the real winner) won the grand prize which is $25,000, a trip to NYC and a Harper's Bazaar cover. {DDG Daily}
It's a truth universally acknowledged that September fashion magazine covers are the most important of the year. With fall just around the bend, September issues are packed to the brim with the newest trends. (They're also packed with advertisements, essential to a magazine's survival.) And if there's one thing you can say about this year's September covers, it's that the good covers are great and the bad ones are truly horrible. Notably absent from the bunch are Vogue Paris and Vogue Italia, whose cover images have not surfaced yet, but are sure not to disappoint. Click through to see the best and worst of September's covers!
