Jenners and Gymnasts Take the Runway at the Heart Truth Red Dress Fashion Show
At this season's Heart Truth Red Dress show, the celeb-filled fashion show to raise awareness about heart disease, the catwalk strutters skewed a little younger than usual. Gymnasts Gabby Douglas and Nastia Liukin walked (they didn't handspring, sadly), as did Kendall and Kyle Jenner (preceded on the runway by mom Kris), and gorgeous Aussie snowboarder Torah Bright. Minka Kelly and Jamie Chung represented the stunning starlet set, and Soledad O'Brien and Savannah Guthrie brought a little TV journalist gravitas to the proceedings. Kelly Osbourne was on the red carpet, rather than judging it. Toni Braxton and Wendy Williams provided a few goddess moments. Exercise guru Jillian Michaels was there, too, and easily had the best triceps of the whole bunch.
10 Things We Learned at New York Fashion Week: Fall 2011
1. Sometimes, Tumblr tumbles. Despite the awesome access the Tumblrs received, including a private party at Donna Karan, breakfast with Nina Garcia, and more, the week's events were reportedly badly organized. 2. Strippers are the new new thing. From go go girls at Rag & Bone's after party to casino hostesses at Karen Walker, topless dancers haven't been this big since Striptease. 3. If you are under 21, you can still DJ an over-21 party. Thanks for the lesson in NY State law, Tavi.
The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection: Suzanne Somers, Dita Von Teese, Eve, And...Chris Benz?
The Heart Truth’s Red Dress show is not really a fashion show. It’s more of a spectacle of sequins, satin, and celebrities. And that is exactly what’s so fabulous about it. The Heart Truth is a campaign sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, with the “Red Dress” as the symbol at the center of the campaign reminding women to protect their heart health. So to that end, they send a bunch of celebs (and “celebs”) down the runway to an unabashedly girly, happy soundtrack. Unlike regular runway shows where you are supposed to look very serious while contemplating the clothes, here you’re encouraged to hoot, holler, clap, and sing. I love this show. First stop was backstage pre-show, which was a complete clusterfu*k. I was hoping to get close to Dita Von Teese (one of my girl crushes) to grill her about her amazing skin and that red lipstick, but she was nowhere in sight. Denise Richards, Gayle King, Audrina Partridge, and Giuliana Rancic were all roaming around. Big waves and big eyelashes seemed to be the unifying beauty theme.
