And the Oscar goes to... Kate Moss? Ok, so maybe that's a stretch. But it sounds like the ever-enduring face of Ms. Moss could finally be coming to a big screen near you--that is, if Jennifer Saunders has any say in the matter. Saunders, the creator and star of Absolutely Fabulous, enlisted Moss for an Ab Fab cameo back in March, and apparently was muy impressed. Vogue UK is reporting (via Closer magazine) that Saunders is in the process of writing up a screenplay based on the long-running BBC sitcom, and there's a role in it for Miss Moss. Only Moss hasn't signed off on the project just yet.
The ladies of Absolutely Fabulous are apparently pulling a Sex and the City maneuver and moving their franchise to the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter reports that co-creator and co-star Jennifer Saunders (Eddy) is planning to make the popular goofy Brit show into a movie. It's a pretty long time coming, since the show originally debuted in 1992. But the show has seen a resurgence since airing a special over the holidays (its first show in six years) that was both popular and favorably reviewed by critics. (You'll be able to catch it in the US on BBC America in January.) NY Mag published an interview with Jennifer Saunders earlier this week, and they asked her about rumors of an Ab Fab movie.
This morning we were reading about Stella McCartney's holiday party, where Edina Jennifer Saunders and Baby Spice Emma Bunton were among the guests in attendance. "Hmm, that's odd," we thought. "And super awesome." Well, it just got better. After being off the air since 2004, a new season of Absolutely Fabulous is making its debut this month. And both Stella McCartney and Emma Bunton will make cameos, the Telegraph is reporting.
