Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez can always be relied upon to move the fashion conversation forward. In their spring 2014 collection, you could see elements of resort (in the use of pleats) and some continuation of last season's more sculptural and demure themes in a jacket here and there; but for the most part, the ideas were new. In a sort of seasonal reversal, this spring collection has a heavier, more grounded feel, while fall was full of crisp white looks.
Today brings devastating news for the New York fashion industry: Annabel Tollman, beloved stylist to stars like Scarlett Johansson, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Liv Tyler, and former Fashion Director at Interview Magazine, has died. She was 39. According to sources close to the situation, Tollman passed away in her sleep Wednesday night from a blood clot, possibly due to complications from a recent minor surgery.
Top editors, buyers and celebrities (like Liv Tyler and Elizabeth Olsen) are willing to schlep anywhere for Proenza Schouler--even to a decrepit (albeit gorgeous) building by City Hall with no heating in the middle of the winter (it was the setting for the label's fall 2013 show). That's because designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez consistently put out one of the best collections every New York fashion week. And last night was no exception. This was a more refined, restrained collection from McCollough and Hernandez.
From Kanye West to Liv Tyler, no one, it seems, is immune to the rottweiler tee's simultaneous charm and badass-ness. But is it so badass? You'll never guess where Tisci came up with the idea...

We've loved Liv Tyler since the "Crazy" video and Empire Records, but, save for her amazing '90s style in both, we've always found her sartorial choices a little...safe. However, she has been seriously stepping it up lately. From the amazing Proenza fall 2011 dress she wore to the CFDAs to the sleek Stella McCartney number she just showed up to a premiere in, the actress has been making some pretty exceptional outfit choices. No wonder--we hear she's been having a little help from stylist Annabel Tollman, who has worked with Jessica Simpson and Scarlett Johansson and other celebs. In the past, Liv has claimed that she doesn't typically use a stylist. She has worked a bit with Rachel Zoe--she even made a guest appearance on an episode of The Rachel Zoe Project, where she had Zoe help her shop for every day clothes. Ironically, Tollman is set to star in her own Bravo reality show this fall. All we know is Liv doesn't seem to have made one red carpet mistake over the past few months, plus, is it just us or has she been looking unusually svelte? Here's a look at Liv's best recent looks.
