Are you an "Our Moment" girl or a "That Moment" girl? Let me help you decide by making loads of One Direction references.
Fashion Figures Can't Stop Partying in Black Face: The fashion industry is still having trouble understanding that blackface is not appropriate ever, not even on Halloween. Kanye West Goes on Another Rant -- But Should He Stop?: A Fashionista contributor explains why she is tired of Kanye West hypocritically claiming that the fashion industry is racist. Remembering Lou Reed and His Contributions to Fashion: We lost one of the greats earlier this week. Lou Reed was an artist, songwriter, and fashion rebel -- look back and remember his signature style.
Eleanor Calder, a 21-year-old student from London, is a rising style star for thousands of teen girls. She has over three million followers on Twitter, and was just ranked 27 on a list of influential British Tweeters--way ahead of the first fashion figure on the list, supermodel Cara Delevingne at 82. Her one million-plus Instagram followers made her front row shot of TopShop's runway the second most popular Instagram of the Fall 2013 shows. Her fans--dubbed Calderics--have launched dozens of Tumblrs dedicated to her style. But who is she?
We're crossing our fingers for an interaction between Harry Styles and one-time rumored girlfriend Cara Delevingne.
Celebrities who attended last night's ceremony seemed really confused on dress code--was it prom (looking at you, Jersey Shore cast)? the Oscars? a fancy rave?--but whatever they wore, it was at least entertaining to look at. From the totally tame to the nearly-nude, here's every look from last night's VMA ceremony.
Watch out #Swifties: #Directioners are coming to snatch your title of "Fandom Most Likely to Rabidly Attack on Twitter."
Kudos to Topshop for pulling the best front row I've seen all week--hell, all month. Demi Lovato (on crutches after a foot injury), Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof, One Direction's Louis Tomlinson and his girlfriend Eleanor Calder, Kate Bosworth and her husband, and Olivia Palermo all wedged in next to each other to take in the show, which opened with the totally-inescapable model of the moment Cara Delevingne. Like the front row, the collection offered an eclectic mix.
One Direction stopped by the Today Show today for a two-part concert series to promote their new album, Take Me Home--and where the boys go, so do their fans. We've already told you what these fanatics would wear on a fantasy date with the band members, and now we wanted to see what they would wear to meet their idols IRL. Would this morning's cold rain damper their fan girl style? Or would their One Direction infection be on full display?
Social media + one internationally loved boy band = a whole new kind of fan girl. Let us explain. You've heard of One Direction, right? The British boy band composed of up of five "lads" between the ages of 18 and 20 (which makes crushing on them totally legal, just sayin') was formed two years ago on the British version of the X-Factor after being rejected as solo acts. They're cute and funny, dress smart, and in just two years have churned a major worldwide hit ("What Makes You Beautiful"), cultivating a massive and rabid fan base in the process. At least two of us here in the Fashionista offices are open Directioners - that's the name for One Direction fans for the uninitiated. But we've got nothing on a new breed of "Directioners" that have cropped up on Tumblr. Like us, they're into fashion.
