Dont judge a book by its cover... Unless it's a magazine, in which case, sometimes the cover is the deciding factor of whether or not to buy the mag altogether. The best covers of 2011 returned to a new naturalism and a fun aesthetic, like the Lara Stone T cover we're still drooling over, pictured at left. Sure, there's still room for artifice in fashion (see: Stella Tennant on Vogue Italia), but 2011 was a year for reflecting on natural beauties, incredible models, and stellar photography. A new second edition of her iPad app is available now, too, and you can check out a "making of" video of the dresses Stella did for the Met Gala. more The designer also revealed the ad campaign for fall/winter on the new site, which features Natalia Vodianova, a regular Stella McCartney muse. The ads were shot by Mert and Marcus at a private home in Oxfordshire, England, and feature some eerie topiaries and a black-and-white Natalia looking as ethereal, haunted, and fragile as ever. Another one of our faves, Proenza Schouler, also just released their fall campaign, which can be found in September issues of all the "cool" magazines like Interview, LOVE, Purple and The Journal.
Elle Fanning looks all Victorian spooky (in a good way!) on LOVE's issue six cover, shot by Mert and Marcus. She's wearing a gorgeous Anna Sui Fall 2011 dress. Three more covers and a fashion video by Mert and Marcus will be released this week on models.com's MDX column.
