The world of beauty lost a genius today. Vidal Sassoon pioneered so-called ready-to-wear hair--no rollers, dryer, or hair spray required. He was the
The internet's been abuzz this week with news of actors chopping off their hair for their art. Dakota Fanning, who's shooting a movie about a girl with leukemia, was spotted with a crop but it turned out to be a wig. So was Vanessa Hudgens, but she actually did the deed for a role in the upcoming film Gimme Shelter in which she plays a homeless girl. She told Access Hollywood that she looks like a "soccer mom." Sometimes a short crop can even make a career: look at Mia Farrow who let Vidal Sassoon chop her hair for Rosemary's Baby. The fact that she has great style just makes our girl crush even more worthy. And now Carey is playing Daisy Buchanan to Leonardo DiCaprio's Jay Gatsby and Tobey Maguire's Nick Carraway in Baz Luhrmann's remake of The Great Gatsby. In the 1970s film version, Mia Farrow played Daisy, Robert Redford played Gatsby and Sam Waterston played Nick. Clearly a big part of the film will be the costumes.
