The Corduroy Appreciation Club (Yes, It Exists) Is Searching For Their 11-Year-Old 'Messiah of Corduroy'--Find Out Why
In news that we're trying really, really hard to make any sense of at all, there is a man in New York on the hunt for someone turning 11 on 11/11/2011. Why? Because according to Miles Rohan, founder of The Corduroy Appreciation Club, that is the date that looks most like corduroy. We were relieved but also confused to read that the club was started as a half-joke, which leads us to presume the founders are (were?) sane enough to see the ridiculousness of it. Yet, they went with it and now, six years later, there are over 4,000 members, chapters in Montana, parades down 11th street and meetings twice yearly on corduroy-resembling dates January 1 and November 11 (participants must wear at least two corduroy items). That seems like a long time and a lot of effort to keep up a half-joke.
