Did you know that Snooki has more fragrances on the shelves than the former Rachel Green?
Celebrities who attended last night's ceremony seemed really confused on dress code--was it prom (looking at you, Jersey Shore cast)? the Oscars? a fancy rave?--but whatever they wore, it was at least entertaining to look at. From the totally tame to the nearly-nude, here's every look from last night's VMA ceremony.
We just received a press release confirming the attendance of one very important reality TV star at a show this week: the incomparable Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. It was only a matter of time before the Jersey Shore star (and budding accessories designer) made her New York Fashion Week debut; we're sure she'll do it with the utmost style and class. She's attending the bebe BLACK Fashion Show on Monday, which is part of the STYLE360 semi-annual New York Fashion Week Showcase at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Also a part of that showcase: Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne. Surprised? Neither were we. Confirmed "celebrities" there include Kylie Jenner, who, as we previously reported, will walk the show; as well as Kendall Jenner, Brody Jenner and, inexplicably, The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Teresa Giudice. Maybe her daugher Gia is walking in the show, too?
Footwear News, WWD's shoe-focused supplement publication, apparently takes Snooki somewhat seriously as a footwear designer. This year, the beloved Jersey Shore castmate launched a line of slippers called Snooki Slippers, followed by a line of pickle print flip flops. The trade publication seems to have some sort of fascination with the pint-sized reality TV star (or she has a really good publicist), as they've published multiple stories on topics ranging from the launch of her flip flops line to the creation of her pickle princess Halloween costume. Today's Footwear News features a Q&A with Snooks called "Snooki's Good Taste," in which she doesn't really reveal anything particularly newsworthy, but does tell us about her favorite things.
TSA Considers Spiked Loubs "Weapons": Some guy named Taz Arnold was traveling with his $1,245 Christian Louboutin Rollerboy Spike shoes and according to his twitter account, the TSA deemed them weapons. {Yahoo! Shine} Get Ready For Snooki the Brand: Snooki--though she recently told the NY Daily News that she prefers to be called Nicole--has hired NY firm SRG Ventures to manage various Snooki-licensed gear to be rolled out over the coming year. Up first? Slippers, jewelry, oversized sunnies, and then possibly denim, sportswear, lingerie, handbags, personal care, beauty products, fragrances, swimwear, bedding and home goods. What about solo cups, Snooks? {NY Post} WWD Devotes New Section To the Boys: WWD has launched a new section devoted to men's fashion and style called Mensweek, that will appear in the paper every Thursday. "We wanted to amp up our men’s coverage," a WWD spokesperson told us, " looking ahead it’s such an important market and continues to strengthen." Today's section features a story that credits the recession with the recent spike in menswear retail and another that ranks quarterbacks (really). {WWD subscription NOT required this time}
It finally happened. First JWoww, then Sammi, and now Snooki has finally professed her ambitions to be a designer. “I wanna be a clothing designer, hair designer," Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi told OK!. She also said she wanted to have "you know, four guido/guidette babies" but that is beside the point. Bring on the rhinestone encrusted sunglasses, the matted bunny slippers and Snooki-branded bumpits! Though lately, Snooki's style seems to getting a bit tamer (her hemlines haven't dropped, thank goodness). She's toned down the poof in favor of bangs and a sleeker less-sprayed mane. And at her latest appearance at the FantaSea Yacht Club in Marina del Rey for the launch of some beauty product called "Beautiful Eyes" (it was classy event, Aubrey O'Day was there), she looked the part in an enormous polo match-style hat that she nearly disappeared under.
Jenni "JWoww" Farley has always been the stand-out fashionista of the Jersey Shore girls, what with her barely there crop tops draped over her gravity-defying boobs and her new demure clothing line, Filthy Couture. But now Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola is saying she wants to get involved. "I'd love to get into fashion and designing hair extensions and hair products," Gioncola told Gurl.com.
Personally, I love Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. I'm kind of over Jersey Shore, the series, but I love the characters. I love that they exist. I love that they're too tan and greasy with the worst hair ever. Style transformations like Nicole Richie's happen once in a blue moon, so why not embrace what Snooki has offered us--a nearly uncensored look at how she lives her life. Because Snooki isn't anything if she's not genuine. Not everyone agrees with me. Some, who were perplexed by the vision of Snooki's butt crack last week at the scene of her arrest, feel differently. What do you think? Do you want to see Snooki transformed into something more sublime? Or do you prefer the chaos?
