At our How I'm Making It conference Friday, award-winning costume designer Lyn Paolo schooled us in the world of costume design. We can say with confidence that everyone left that talk having learned something they didn't already know, us included. So we decided to share our new knowledge with you, dear readers.
You guys--she's back. Paris Hilton hit the shows today to check out the Jeremy Scott runway, along with the Jonas brothers and Nicki Minaj. But we saw plenty of other exciting things at day seven of New York Fashion Week. Check 'em out here:
Last year, the Emmy nominees for Outstanding Costumes for a Series were Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey, The Borgias, Game of Thrones, and Once Upon a Time. Game of Thrones obviously won, and we wouldn't be surprised if it went on a winning streak for the rest of its time on air. And we get it--those costumes are awesome, as are those of the other nominated shows. But is it fair that contemporary shows rarely get recognized for their costumes?
