The French woman behind The Webster tells us how she's making it in fashion.
Laure Heriard Dubreuil, the tres chic founder and CEO of The Webster Miami, lives a pretty charmed fashion life. We got a glimpse at what it's like to be Laure in this exclusive video.
Miami swim week kicks off tomorrow. While the abbreviated fashion week gets as much attention for the t and a on display as it does for the swimwear, a new collab to promote Miami swim caught our eye. Hot Miami boutique The Webster, which the rest of the country has had been fortunate enough to have chance to shop lately as it's one of the shop-in-shops at Target, has teamed up with show sponsor Mercedes-Benz and Teen Vogue editor Mary Kate Steinmiller on a jewelry collections. For those of you who don't know, Steinmiller is an accomplished jewelry designer as well as a full time editor and street style catnip. In fact, her jewelry making skills probably helped land that Teen Vogue job. We caught up with Steinmiller to get all the details on her new collection for The Webster, how she got into making jewelry (she makes every piece by hand), and how she balances accessory design with a full time job at Teen Vogue.
As if we weren't already obsessed with Target for giving us affordable duds from the likes of Jason Wu and Missoni, their new venture has officially pushed us over the edge: The "Shops at Target," which the retailer announced today, will be an ongoing program that tries to recreate the ambiance and products of small boutiques within their own mega-stores and online. New shops will be introduced every two to four months. And, of course, it'll all be affordably priced, reports NBC. The first batch of stores partnering with Target includes The Candy Store, Cos Bar cosmetics shop, Polka Dog Bakery for dog accessories, Privet House home and The Webster; they'll debut May 6 of this year.
Celine Kaplan is one of those French women who seems incredibly perfect and intimidating from afar. (I mean, did you SEE her closet on the The Coveteur???) When you do meet her, she's still incredibly perfect, but also incredibly kind and a joy to be around. Ahh, the French. Anyway, when I finally got a chance to know Celine while interviewing one of her clients--Laure from The Webster--I soon realized that she'd be the topic of my next Life With column. Celine's been doing PR for Bourjois and Eres (both owned by Chanel) for over a decade. That was, until the last year when Bourjois stopped distributing their makeup in the US. She still heads up the Eres US PR efforts, and has brought on some other clients you just might be interested in, including The Webster and...wait for it...Laduree! which is planning on opening up shop in America sooner than later. Almost out of nowhere, Celine acquired her very own boutique firm, CKPR public relations. She and I recently sat down at Balthazaar--yes, even French people like it there--to chat about the industry, what it's like to be a high power PR, and why the only secret to getting what you want is hard work.
Laure Heriard Dubreuil, Frederic Dechnik, and Milan Vukmirovic opened Miami concept shop The Webster in 2009 to much fanfare. After all, Dubreuil and Dechnik were YSL alums and Vukmirovic helped found Colette. Luckily for them--and us--their abilities far exceeded the impressiveness of their resumes. The Webster is now a go-to destination in Miami, much like Colette is in Paris or Opening Ceremony is in New York. And with that credibility comes the ability to expand your brand. The first step is an e-commerce site, which launched this month. We recently met up with Dubreuil at Payard’s new downtown Manhattan location to chat about the web, why Miami is a great place for jet setters to...settle, and what’s next for her and her partners.

We Heart Billy Reid: It's been a few months since Billy Reid was named GQ's Best Menswear Designer of the Year, but we insist you check out this video GQ just posted. He's so happy and even starts to tear up! It's too cute. {GQ.com} Crystal Renn's Today Show Confessions: The fashion world has been in a tizzy over (fomerly?) plus size model Crystal Renn's apparent weight loss. She says those Fashion for Passion photos were retouched to make her look like a size two, that she has been doing a new exercise routine, and that she's been in recovery from anorexia for seven years. {The Cut} Kelly Cutrone's Books Need Their Own Section: Yes, Kelly Cutrone is working on a second book, tentatively titled Yes I Said That. But she doesn't want this book to end up where her last one did--in the self-help section. “My idea is that there should be a section called ‘Journey’ and when my book comes out in May, I want it to be in [this] new section.” {People Style Watch}
