Check Out These Dresses Made From Nursing Home Supplies (Think Adult Diapers and Syringes)
The University of Chicago alumni magazine is an unlikely source of inspiration for us, but this month they’ve outdone themselves by featuring a project by Amy Zucker (MFA ’98). Amy is a Registered Nurse and case manager who works with the elderly in nursing homes. She fabricated a series of dresses out of medical supplies which are meant to be a statement about the elderly and their “tenuous” access to medical care. We’re just happy that Amy found a way to funnel her creativity. (See, Amy’s mom! That fine arts degree is totally paying off.) She didn’t use any toilet seat covers, luckily, otherwise we’d have to do an Adventures in Copyright. Click through to see her creations and how they compare to what some fashion designers are doing these days.
