Here are 20 ways Lauren Conrad and co. gave fashion closet interns everywhere false hopes of going to Paris and more. {Buzzfeed Fashion} Student of the universe Roberto Cavalli has received an honorary degree from Milan's Domus Academy. We think the real reward is that he evaded the atrocious student loans. {WWD}

Michelle Williams recently walked the red carpet in a piece from the new Victoria by Victoria Beckham line, and now it's rumored that A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron, and Cameron Diaz are eyeing the designer to outfit them for the biggest night in Hollywood. {Fashion Magazine} Lady Gaga to Launch Social Networking Site: So her stans have a safe haven to pay due homage to their Mother Monster, Lady Gaga is developing a new "community" website. Not many have made the successful transition from reality TV star to legitimate designer--but former Hills star Whitney Port is certainly trying. Port launched her own line Whitney Eve in 2008, and after four years of presentations and look books, the designer is finally taking her collection to the tents. She'll show her Fall 2012 collection--her first-ever runway show--at 9am on February 15 in The Studio at Lincoln Center. Not half bad for a 26-year-old with little (or no?) actual design training.
Charlotte Ronson has essentially built a career designing for her friends--which isn't such a bad thing when you consider who we're talking about here: Margherita Missoni, Kelly Osbourne, Joy Bryant, Whitney Port and Nicky Hilton were among the designer's pals who came to show support at Ronson's spring 2012 show. And that's not even counting the Ronson bloodline, which, with Sam Ronson DJ'ing the event and Annabelle Dexter-Jones walking, was in full force. But while the celebrities were easy to spot, the actual collection was a bit harder to pin down.
Whitney Port has just released images from the latest Whitney Eve lookbook on Celebuzz. The former reality-TV-star cum fashion designer--or her favorite personal assistant--took to the blog herself to announce the collection. Quoth she: "Hi tootsies, I am beyond thrilled to finally be able to present to you the Fall 2011 LookBook!!!" The collection features a lot of colorful graphic prints, which Whitney says were "inspired by [her] trip to Africa last October," although no doubt the influence of buzzy up-and-coming label Suno, whose collections are often inspired by traditional African textiles, can be seen. However, Whitney definitely puts her own spin on the trend, and the result is a colorful collection that's more California surfer girl than African anything.
Fans of affordable British retailer Superdry USA, including Jessica Szohr and Whitney Port, were happy to escape Wednesday night’s heat to celebrate the brand’s newest digs at South Street Seaport. The party marks Superdry’s second NYC address—the first shop hit NoHo in 2009. “This new location is fantastic with international and domestic consumers,” explained Superdry President Michael Martens. “We have 140 stores worldwide so when a European consumer comes here they immediately recognize this store and come in and shop,” he said.
Cunningham as Subject: The trailer for the highly-anticipated documentary about New York's favorite street style photographer Bill Cunningham is out, featuring commentary by Anna Wintour and other fashion insiders. {Zeitgeist Films} Naomi Makes Trouble, Again: This Thursday, Naomi Campbell will return to the courtroom, her home-away-from-home in recent years, to face Moodform Mission, a cosmetic firm started by her former agent Carole White. Cycle 15 winner Ann Ward's first round of Polaroids for IMG are out, and a spread in Italian Vogue is next. Ragazza fortunata. {The Cut}
Erin Kaplan, our favorite City character (seriously, what would Olivia Palermo be without her?), and Elle's head of PR is leaving the mag after over five years to become the head of PR at Teen Vogue. While it could just be that Kaplan's really good at her job and put in a good amount of time at Elle and is ready for a change to a different glossy with a different publisher, we've got a hunch Kaplan's strong TV chops might have something to do with it. Teen Vogue's Amy Astley mentioned a little while back that the mag was developing a TV show. Kaplan proved herself to be a dynamic and engaging character on the City and she'd be an asset to a similar show. Plus it only seems fair since City alums Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port both have shows in the works.
Olivia Palermo's not the only City alum to get her own reality series. Whitney Port's got her own series too, only it won't follow her clothing line,
We never saw this one coming. Kidding! In not at all shocking news, Olivia Palermo has revealed in January's Vogue Spain that her forthcoming reality show will follow the launch of her own clothing line (thank you to Racked for translating). Using a reality TV show to launch a line? What a novel idea! Racked points out that, duh, this is exactly what The City was for Whitney Port. It's also the basis for Lauren Conrad's new reality TV show, which will focus on her new line, Paper Crown. Still, we'll probably watch (no word on when or where it will air). Because love her or hate her, Palermo has a great sense of style (she made our 30 best dressed of the year list) and she is very pretty to look at. That bone structure! So we're curious. Some more evidence that Olivia Palermo is very pretty to look at? Her nine page spread in Vogue Spain aptly titled “La Niña Bonita.“ Check it out--she actually smiles.
It looks like we knew about The City's demise long before star Whitney Port did. Racked reports the actress/designer admitted this morning on Ryan Seacrest's radio show that "it doesn't really look like we're doing it anymore." We're disappointed for the show's fans, although we're sure they'll find solace in Lauren Conrad's MTV reality show, which documents the making of her clothing empire.
