Meghan Markle Wore a Thing: Black Halo LBD Edition

Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect™ with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing."
The Church of England has blessed us with two (2) official Meghan Markle appearances this week, her most recent occurring on Thursday evening — i.e., exactly one month away from her royal nuptials to Prince Harry. ("BUT WHO'S COUNTING, HAHA?!", we try to ask casually as we stare at an oversized May calendar with the 19th circled in fat red ink.)
After wearing Altuzarra for a Commonwealth reception on Wednesday, Markle broke out a new cocktail dress for another reception, this one to celebrate "female empowerment" at the Royal Aeronautical Society. The structured, asymmetrical LBD comes courtesy of Los Angeles-based contemporary label Black Halo — it's the "Jackie O Belted Dress," which retails for $375 and, of course, instantly sold out (but has since been restocked on Shopbop!) — which she accessorized with a pair of Birks' $1,595 "Diamond Swirl Earrings," Gucci's $830 "Dionysus Suede Super Mini Bag" and her go-to "Milano Cutout Suede Pumps," from Aquazzura.

Meanwhile, her beauty look: Markle's messy-ish bun has polarized certain corners of the fashion and beauty industries. (We like it! Others, who may prefer something more traditionally coiffed, do not.)
